A Feng Shui New Year

What I learned on Day 1 of the countdown to the BIG 4-0

In reading through my facebook page today I was amused by all the New Year's superstitions everyone participated in.  All of the things we do in the hopes of having "Good Luck".  So where do these superstitions come from.

The one I remember was always eat black eyed peas on New Year's Day if you wanted to be prosperous.

The Chinese have certain superstitions that are related to good and to bad luck....feng shui.

-They believe that good luck can be found in pairs. If you wish to give a gift then you'll want to give 2 gifts.
-Don't build a home that is facing north.
-Avoid the #4 because it sounds like the Chinese word for death.
-Staircases should have an even number of steps.

My favorite is how you sweep your home is very important. You can hold on to the good luck that enters your door by proper sweeping. When you sweep, you should sweep inwardly. You need to sweep all of the dirt and dust into the center of you home and then physically carry it out of the house through the back door, never the front.  This keeps the good luck in your home.

So whether you eat your fill of black eyed peas or kiss your love at midnight, I think the important thing is not the superstitions you believe in but the belief in something super happening to you.

So here's to a SUPER New Year filled with hope, prosperity and wellness...and a another helping of black eyed peas won't hurt either.

For luck.

Happy New Years!!!!

Happy New Years!!!

I have always wanted to start a blog but had no idea what kind I wanted to start.  I have since figured out that it was just another way of procrastinating.  Something that I am a pro at.  So here it is....

My Blog

I am turning 40 this year.  There I said it, sort of.  I am not afraid of turning 40, well, not completely afraid.  I want to redefine my idea of 40, not be defined by it.

So that is my brilliant idea for this blog.  My road to the BIG 4-0.

Let the fun begin...and the learning...and the growing...etc.

39 and holding(for the next 10 months anyways),
